WHAT IS DURASEAL GLASSFIBRE
ROOFING?
Duraseal is a wet laid G.R.P. Laminate. The product has several differerent names - G.R.P. (Glass reinforced polyester fibreglass) and our preferred name Glassfibre. This is made from cold applied polyester resin, reinforced with chopped strand matting, finished with a pigmented top coat. These products are layed onto timber decking to give an extremley long lasting roof covering. THE BENEFITS OF THE DURASEAL GLASSFIBRE ROOFING SYSTEM * Glassfibre can be formed around intricate shapes and obstacles e.g. soil / vent pipes, chimneys etc. * Glassfibre has no joints to fail * Glassfibre can withstand most foot traffic * Glassfibre roofs can be added to very easily or skylights fitted etc. * Duraseal glassfibre roofs last a very very long time HOW DOES DURASEAL GLASSFIBRE ROOFING WORK? Most flat roofs especially domestic ones, consist of chipboard overlayed with felt and probably chippings. This practice has many failings and has only a relatively short life expectancy. We start by stripping off the old felt / chippings and underlying chipboard, which are then removed from the site. We can then lay an insulation quilt if required. New decking usually 18MM OSB board is then fixed to the underlying joists by means of 63MM ring shank nails, which are fired using a nailgun (this cuts down on vibration normally associated with hammering). The required edging detail is then fixed to the new edging by 18MM clout nails. ( illustrations of the various premade glassfibre edging detail are on the following pages).
